IMCC Investment L.L.C. successfully delivered two new custom-designed rubber tyred gantry (RTG) cranes to the Chittagong Port Authority in April. The Port Authority, who are based in Bangladesh, awarded the contact in mid-2017. Each RTG measured 92 x 40 x 92 feet and weighed almost 200 tonnes. Fabrication work begun in August 2017 and the project was delivered as planned.
The project did not come without its challenges which included navigating through two major cyclonic storms during transport to Bangladesh, but the project team took these in their stride and delivered a great product. The Chittagong Port in Bangladesh is one of the most congested ports in the world and delivery of IMCC’s state-of-the-art cranes will help the port to reduce their high costs and congestion surcharges.
